As an identical twin with inexhaustible amounts of energy, my parents signed myself and my sister up to every imaginable sport and activity from ballet to hockey to swimming. Growing up in Ireland, summers were spent on the beach rain or shine, surfing the waves on the Atlantic coast where my love and respect of the ocean was born.
During a year long trip around South America, Australia and New Zealand, I encountered multiple incidences that opened my eyes to the damage we’re inflicting on our planet. Scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef and witnessing first-hand the devastation caused by rising sea temperatures and coral bleaching, to watching members of an indigenous tribe, during a sailing trip around the San Blas Islands, emptying plastic packaging wrappers into the ocean as they believed the plastic had come from Mother Nature absolutely broke my heart.
After relocating back to London in 2017, resolutions were made to bring awareness to the issue of plastic pollution and take an honest look at my daily habits. This included how I shopped, where I shopped and where my clothes were actually coming from. As activewear made up the majority of my wardrobe, it seemed the best place to start. Unable to find functional and aesthetic activewear that truly aligned with my values, I decided to create my own. It was so important to ensure every step of the process was sustainably and ethically focused, a process that has been almost two years in the making. I believe creating premium quality cannot be rushed and will always champion slow fashion to produce sustainably made garments that I'm proud of! I hope you love them as much as I loved making them!
