Sustainability

Our Why

Plastic pollution can now be found on every beach in the world. Anywhere from busy tourist beaches to uninhabited, tropical islands, nowhere is safe. Approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans every day. Every Day. Just let that sink in. We have a responsibility to the planet to do as little harm as possible. Nobody is perfect but we can at least try.

Despite being a small brand we at Olly Olly & co want to prove that it is possible to do things the right way and ensure that every step of our supply chain has ethical standards, sustainable manufacturing and carbon footprint considerations at its core.

We do this by only working with people who are aligned to our values. This slows the process but allows us to be considerate of the environment and its people at every single step of the journey.

Fabrics we use

ECONYL®

Our first collection is crafted from our partners at ECONYL®, a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets. They perform in the same way as traditional nylon giving great shape and muscular compression. The Italian fabric mill we work with have a multitude of certifications such as OEKO-TEX which ensures the dyes used are non toxic.

Repreve®

REPREVE® is the world’s leading brand of recycled performance fiber. Using recycled instead of virgin polyester produces fewer carbon emissions. And giving plastic bottles a second life keeps them out of oceans and landfills. Humans use about 1.2 million plastic bottles per minute. Only 56% are recycled which is shocking and by using it in our activewear we're giving it a purpose

Our Manufacturing Team

Any factory that I partner with have all been independently audited to ensure that high standards in all these areas are being adhered to.

It seems contradictory to make clothes that are kinder to the planet but not to the people who are creating them which is why having an ethical supply chain is so important to me.

We created our new collection in Bali

I chose our current manufacturers in Bali after lengthy research and have had team members visit the factory in person.

All employees receive well above the min wage with 13 months salary a year. They receive two months’ wages for a holiday of up to 25 days. They also provide free medical insurance to all their employees, including their spouses and children, covering doctor’s fees, prescription medications, & hospitalization.

The manufacturers I partner with are aligned with our values They support the charity Bali Streets Mums, a local charity that aims to rehabilitate street children and mothers who would otherwise survive by scavenging garbage dumps. As part of their program, they provide children with clothes, toiletries, and a halfway home where basic health, reading, and writing skills are taught to facilitate their enrolment in a local school and integration into society.

We don’t use labels inside our activewear, instead we have a non-toxic label stamp to reduce waste.

Our Packaging and Distribution

All our packaging is eco-friendly. We use compostable mailers and recycled(as well as recyclable) tissue paper. Our tags are made from FSC approved, recycled paper and our string is made from hemp.

We distribute your beautiful garments using 100% carbon neutral shipping.

We have put so much thought and consideration into every step of the journey and we hope you love each garment as much as we do!
